FILTER MEDIA

The ClearWater BMP filters are designed to be versatile in a variety of situations. Different TMDL’s can be addressed by charging our filters with one media type or a variety of media types so that our filters can help stop or limit your pollution problems. Staying in compliance with NPDES rules is important and our filters can do this for you, now and in the future! The ClearWater BMP can easily be customized to your locations by installing filter media that can remove hydrocarbons, soluble metals such as copper, lead, & zinc, phosphorus, pathogens such as e-coli, and sediment.

Pre-filter

The pre-filter is designed to prolong the life of your media filter. This filter removes fine sediment and particles which would clog up your filter media. This filter has been used with great success in the fish aquarium industry and is an integral part of the ClearWater BMP filtering system.

Perlite

Perlite

Perlite is a naturally occurring puffed volcanic ash. Since it is about 15 times its original size, it is highly porous. Rough edges and porous structures make it very effective for removing fine particles, which often are attached with many pollutants. Our Perlite can be used as a stand-alone media or mixed with other media to help control your TMDL pollution issues. Perlite is very effective at removing suspended solids (TSS), oil, grease, and other hydrocarbons.

GAC

GAC (Granular Activated Carbon)

Activated Carbon is used in many applications in the water filtration industry. This media is known for its micro-porous structure and large surface areas, which provides high levels of adsorption. Activated carbon is used extensively for the removal of organics, some metals, and for the removal of oil, grease, and hydrocarbons.

RubberizerSock

Rubberizer Sock

Rubberizer® is designed to transform oil, grease, and hydrocarbons into a rubber-like solid on contact, and does not re-release when it is retrieved. The solidification process is non-chemical in nature allowing the US EPA to classify Rubberizer® as a sorbent. Since our ClearWater BMP also acts as an oil/water separator, we highly recommend the installation of a Rubberizer sock in the first collection chamber to capture and contain your hydrocarbons.
